CSI 12.22 “Homecoming” Review

May 15, 2012 | No Comment |

This was another season’ finale and it just looked like it was only yesterday the season premiere was aired! Like most finales, this one ended with a couple of cliffhangers. Talking of which; it should be about time cliffhangers are kept in the coolers especially when it comes to season’s finales. It is an ongoing debate especially when it’s looked at with respect to tying all the loose ends of the season and creating some form of closure for fans until the next season premiere but the argument is neither here nor there because creativity should not be hindered in any form.

CSI Season 12 Episode 22

The title of this episode was ‘Homecoming’ and it opened with a Sheriff going through the crime stats and that set the stage for what was about to happen. Jaclyn Smith graced the show once more as she returned as Olivia. And another pleasant personality that came on board was Peri Gilpin who has been cast as DB’s wife Barbra Russell. Hopefully fans would get to see more of DB’s life outside the office with her around.

Fin would have found it difficult getting to the bottom of his case if he had allowed his preconceived ideas about Jack Gilmore influence it. He did well to ignore it and aimed for the truth which he found. This episode brought back some past misdeeds especially in the area of corruption with Jeffery McKeen around. And he came back as corrupt and mean as he left of not more.

And the talk of the past showed how far the show has come with new characters. It would be hard for someone just watching it to believe that Fin, DB and Morgan only came in this season. Some old war horses like Nick are still around though and he was there to give Mckeen with all hi corruption a run for his money.

Ecklie literarily took the bullet for the daughter Morgan. This would definitely go a long way in reconnecting with her. This was one of the cliffhangers of the finale; fans would have to wait until next season to know what happened to the dad.

Another cliffhanger which was a major even in the episode was the kidnapping of Kaitlyn, Russell’s granddaughter. Meanwhile Mckeen is keeping tabs on Fin. Fans would have to wait till the next season to get answers to what happened next.
